Emigration from Iraq

One of the things hurting Iraq has been the emigration of many Christians and rich people (doctors, engineers, etc.). In a sense, though, that is not a bad thing. It is caused by freedom. If we put up a Berlin Wall to stop emigration, we could keep them in, as Saddam Hussein did. But it is better to let them go now. They no doubt wanted to leave before, however, so their departure is not a sign that things are worse for the rich in Iraq now than they were under Saddam.
