Following are results of recent inspections of food establishments by the Monroe County Health Department. Critical violations are reported, along with establishments that had no violations. Critical violations are most likely to affect public health, such as grossly soiled surfaces that come into contact with food, foods kept at improper temperatures, chemicals stored near food and food and employees handling food without washing hands.

Critical violations

• Great Taste Buffet, 3616 W. Third St., March 3, table surfaces in food prep areas not being sanitized after cleaning, employees drinking from uncovered beverages in food prep area.

• Pammy's Diner, 3860 W. Third St., March 1, packages of raw ground beef stored directly above biscuits, Comet with bleach and 409 cleaner stored directly next to coffee machine and above potato/onion storage bin.

• Clover Leaf Restaurant, 2500 W. Third St., March 2, fresh shell eggs not maintained at proper temperature.

• Neannie's Cafe, 402 1/2 W. Sixth St., March 2, muffins stored in contact with raw chicken.

• Kenny's Tavern, 219 N. Sale St., Ellettsville, March 10, cooked tenderloin kept at improper temperature, utensils and food contact surfaces of equipment not being sanitized after cleaning, aspirin stored on shelf directly over food prep area.

• Little Caesar's at Kmart, 3175 W. Third St., March 13, sausage, pepperoni and cheese not stored at proper temperature.

• China Star Restaurant, 4641 W. Richland Plaza, March 13, fresh shell eggs and cooked noodles held at improper temperature in food prep area, food debris on food slicer, mold in ice machine bin.

• Dragon Chinese Restaurant, 3261 W. Third St., March 13, raw pork and raw chicken stored above open containers of onions.

• Pizza Pantry, 5700 W. Ind. 46, March 15, mold in ice machine bin.

• Aver's Pizza, 1837 N. Kinser Pike, March 15, cooked chicken cubes, pepperoni, sausage held at improper temperature.

• Wal-Mart Radio Cafe, 3201 W. Ind. 45, March 16, hot dogs not stored at proper temperature owing to malfunction in refrigerator unit.

• Hoosier Bar & Grill, 4645 Richland Plaza, March 20, build up of slime and debris on soda spout holster.

• Casa Brava, 3482 W. Third St., March 22, raw chicken and raw shrimp stored together in freezer, raw beef steaks stored directly above sliced tomatoes in prep line refrigeration unit.

• Save-A-Lot, 1711 N. College Ave., March 23, utensils and food contact surfaces used in processing of fresh produce not being sanitized after cleaning.

• Taco Bell, 3702 W. Third St., March 27, refried beans, ground beef and steak held in bins at improper temperature.

• Long John Silver's, 3811 W. Third St., March 27, drain backed up in hand-washing sink.
