Comments on Writing for G604 (7 May 2006)

1. Don't use abbreviations for common terms such as "vertical integration" (VI).

2. Use the active voice, not the passive voice ("Johnson concludes that the estimator is biased," not "It is concluded that the estimator is biased").

3. Give citations of all papers mentioned, including the one the report is about.

4. Use the present tense ("This paper finds that...", not "This paper found that...").

5. Journal and book titles should be in italic, not roman font.
